BREEDERS' CUP EVENT LOGO INTRODUCED FOR 2004 WORLD THOROUGHBRED CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie to host 21st Running

Breeders' Cup Limited and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) have released the official event logo for the 21st Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at Lone Star Park in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, Tex.

The official event logo was created by New York-based Phoenix Design Works and unveiled today at a ceremony at Lone Star Park.

The 2004 official event logo, adorned in red, white and blue, features the traditional Breeders' Cup mark placed in the center of a five pointed star symbolic of the State of Texas. The rectangular form is bordered on top with the words "World Thoroughbred Championships" and at the bottom with the words Lone Star Park 2004. Four additional stars appear near the boundaries of the logo.

"The 2004 event logo combines the signature elements of the great State of Texas and Lone Star Park with the World Thoroughbred Championships." said Damon Thayer, vice president of Breeders' Cup and Event Marketing. "We look forward to displaying the logo widely throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and to our international outlets."

The event logo will appear in Breeders' Cup advertising, promotions and on officially licensed clothing and merchandise sold across the country and overseas. The logo will also appear on the NTRA Web site and be utilized by North American and other international media organizations to complement coverage of the World Thoroughbred Championships. The Breeders' Cup, which will be run this year on Saturday, October 25 at the Oak Tree Racing Association meeting at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia Calif., consists of eight championship races with purses and awards totaling $14 million. As in previous years, next year's event will be televised live on NBC.

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horseracing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing popularity of horseracing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA and Breeders' Cup Limited administer the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, Thoroughbred racing's year-end Championships consisting of eight races and $14 million in purses and awards and the Breeders' Cup Stakes Program.
